Smoketree Lodge Banner Elk North Carolina: A Hidden Gem

As we ventured into the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, my husband and I were eager to explore the great outdoors. With its stunning scenery, picturesque towns, and abundant wildlife, our trip was nothing short of a dream come true. And one of the highlights of our trip was staying at Smoketree Lodge in Banner Elk.

Our stay at Smoketree Lodge was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We loved taking leisurely carriage trails in Moses Cone Park, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We also enjoyed a short visit to the manor house, learning about its rich history and architecture.

One of our favorite experiences was hiking on the Green Knob trail, where we spotted an otter at the little pond near the beginning of the trail. The trail itself was moderately challenging, with some noise from parallel roads but plenty of scenic views to make up for it.

We also appreciated the helpful rangers at Blue Ridge Park, who provided valuable insights and recommendations for our hiking adventures. And when we needed groceries, we found a convenient Lowe's store near the intersection of Hwy 105 and 221.

After a long day of exploring, we enjoyed unwinding in the great pool or hot tub at Smoketree Lodge, savoring the tranquil atmosphere and stunning mountain views. Our room was comfortable and clean, with friendly staff always willing to lend a helping hand.

While our stay at Smoketree Lodge wasn't without its challenges – the lack of air conditioning made it necessary to use a noisy fan – we appreciated the trade-off for being in a quiet location. We also loved having access to a deck for dining and a washer/dryer for cleaning up our hiking clothes.

Overall, our stay at Smoketree Lodge was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. With its unbeatable location, comfortable accommodations, and friendly staff, we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain getaway in North Carolina.
